Thai Massage I - Introduction and Supine

January 28 - 29, 2017

$295.00

Thai Massage is an ancient and sacred healing art with roots in yoga, Ayurveda, and Buddhist spritual practice. It combines rhythmic massage, accupressure, gentle stretching, energy work, and meditation to balance the flow of healing energy within the body and create a powerful release of stress and tension.

In these four weekend seminars, you will develop the hands-on and deep listening skills that will enable you to provide clients with a complete Thai massage, practiced on a mat in the traditional style. As well as learning the basic techniques, body mechanics, and "flow" of Thai massage, an emphasis will be placed throughout all the seminars on the use of breath and meditation to allow both therapist and client to enter into a deeply tranquil state of mindfulness and loving compassion ("metta" in Buddhism). This deepens the connection between mind, body and spirit in both giver and receiver, and allows the therapist to access a place of deep intuitive wisdom to offer clients a profound level of healing.

Thai 1: Introduction to Thai Massage and Supine Position

Thai 2: Side-Lying and Prone Positions

Thai 3: Seated Position and Review

Thai 4: Integrated Thai (Prerequisites Thai 1, 2, & 3)

It is recommended - but not required - that the seminars be taken consecutively. Thai 1, 2, and 3 should be taken before completing Thai 4. Students who have previously taken Thai Massage seminars with Michelle Manna at SSMT may complete their certification through these classes.

Mats and cushions will be provided at the seminars. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move in.

Joni Masse and Stephanie Churn Lubow both had the opportunity to travel to Thailand in 2012 and study with traditional Thai masters, and they are excited to share their energy and passion for the work with students.

9:00am to 6:00pm each day.
