This course is designed for clients who would benefit from staying clothed to receive bodywork, for example, people with Parkinson's, MS, Stroke patients, Cerebral Palsy, Geriatrics with limitations, and Cancer Survivors. However some clients who may not have serious medical challenges as stated above, may prefer and be more comfortable receiving sessions fully clothed. Also there are some settings that it may be more appropriate to receive clothed bodywork. This approach is something that massage therapists can utilize anywhere anytime for anybody.
Outcome will be that students will be able to create a 50 min massage session with clients who are fully clothed so they may relieve pain, reduce stress and anxiety, increase mobility and improve their clients overall sense of well being. Techniques will include a synthesis from certain bodywork styles including Healing Touch, Reiki, gentle Thai, Reflexology, CST, Trager approach, Zero Balancing.
Objectives are: students will demonstrate techniques from the various bodywork styles mentioned above. Students will understand the principles from the various bodywork styles above, and how and when to utilize them in specific situations.
Classes will be a combination of some lecture and demo, but the majority of the time spent during the weekend will be students guided performing hands on exchanges with one another.
Students will need to bring sheets and bed pillows to classes and wear loose comfortable clothing.
Class is held from 9:00am - 6:00pm both days with a 1 hour lunch break. Register by Feb. 28th to receive the early bird discount of $295, full price of $325 after.
