In distinct modules, we will present a "big picture" timeline of conditions and disease processes which respond positively to massage in terms of the mechanisms of actions on both the body and brain stress systems. By incorporating a body-mind tiered perspective, the diverse types of conditions responding to massage, as well as the elusive mechanisms of action, can now be presented as a cohesive model. The tangible result being that the unambiguous role of massage therapy is both expanded, and can be confidently recommended, for conditions as reflected in the tiered levels of body-mind stress system dysfunction.
