Thai Massage 1: Introduction to Thai Massage

April 26 - 27, 2025

$350.00

Thai Massage is one of the oldest forms of bodywork available today: it is an ancient and sacred system combining rhythmic massage, acupressure, passive stretching, energy work, and meditation. Thai massage restores balance to the whole person – mind, body, and spirit, and can do the same for the therapist. Thai Massage is a beautiful art form that creates a space for both therapist and client to reciprocally be affected by the rhythm of the work, and to experience the deep meditative space that is created. The synchronistic manner of Thai Massage creates inner peace for the therapist as well as the client. While Thai Massage can be a deeply felt experience it also can be quite playful, filled with joy; listening to one’s intuition and open-hearted child-like experience, clients and therapists alike have often described the feeling of being “naturally high” after a session.  Along with the calming benefits, both therapist and receiver become more flexible, agile, and joyful.

While there are guidelines and techniques taught throughout the weekend, there is also a strong emphasis on listening to one’s intuition and own sense of ease, being mindful of breath and body. It is in giving that one receives and in receiving that one gives. Come away from the weekend with a feeling of lightness and joy that can continue into your work as a Thai Massage therapist.

In this two-weekend certification program, you will develop the hands-on and deep listening skills that will enable you to provide clients with a complete Thai Massage, practiced on a mat in the traditional style.
Thai 1: Introduction to Thai Massage, Supine and Seated Positions
Thai 2: Side-Lying and Prone Positions, Final Review and Integration
It is required that the two weekend seminars, Thai 1 and Thai 2, both be taken to receive certification. They may, however, be taken in any order.
There is also a required hands-on session, one-on-one, to be scheduled with Joni outside of class time, to evaluate the skill level of the participant. This is the final requirement for certification and no certification will be issued without this session. Mats and cushions will be provided at the seminars.
