Application Fee
The non-refundable application fee, unless the class has been cancelled, is $50, and is submitted with the application.
Tuition
Tuition cost is $11,675.
Federal financial aid is available for those who qualify. There are a variety of alternatives for covering the tuition (see federal financial assistance on the next page).
Books and Supplies
The required books are $400, including sales tax. (see federal financial assistance on the next page).
Students must provide linens and massage lubricant (creams, lotions, and oils). These will cost approximately $75-$150.
Massage Tables
A high quality massage table will be provided for each student at no additional charge. Students will have a choice of models and options, some of which incur an additional charge. While it is possible to spend $300 or more in options and accessories, many students will find the table packages provided to be sufficient. In the event of withdrawal or dismissal the table must be returned to the school. Upon graduation, the table becomes the property of the graduate.
Examination & Licensure
The Florida Board of Massage Therapy accepts any one of three exams to meet it's licensing requirement; either the NCETMB, NCETM, or MBLEx* may be taken to meet this requirement. The average SSMT pass rate for the three exams is 98% so far for '09-'10.
The fee for any of the exams is $175. There is an additional $50 fee paid to the National Certification Board for the optional designation "Nationally Certified." There is also a $205 fee that must be paid to the Florida Department of Health for licensure. The total cost for an exam and licensure is $380; the total cost with National Certification is $430.
