Massage for Motherhood

Pregnancy massage has been shown to alleviate the musculoskeletal strain and pain commonly seen in pregnancy. Prenatal complications are reduced with preventative touch therapies. You will learn how to provide nurturing support and stress reduction for your clients.

This course includes abundant information including: normal anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, normal fetal development, expected physiological and psychological changes, labor and birth dynamics and treatment indications and contraindications.

Alternate body positioning, appropriate draping, proper intake interviewing and documentation are also covered. The participant will learn how to give a full-body therapeutic massage during all three trimesters, and the postpartum period using the BodyCushion® support system. You will have an opportunity to use massage tables with the pregnancy option. On Sunday models will be available for hands-on practice.
